My emotions tanked when we awoke to a foot of snow

My emotions tanked when we awoke to a foot of snow last week! Not because it was only October, but because my outdoor portrait shoot just became a studio shoot. Visually, the blowing snow just didn’t lend itself to the mood we were going for, ya know?! As an artist, I’m driven by my emotions (I suspect most of us are) and I’m powered by creativity and the passion to produce. So I was feeling kinda stifled when my client showed up, as I wasn’t sure how we were going to create the desired images.I had photographed Bria Rose at events in the past, and immediately loved her stage energy and music, of course. She arrived at the studio energized and ready to go, as she had slipped in our session between a concert the next night and a flight to perform in Iceland a few days later! She had a LOT on the go. We got to work immediately, talking about her desired look and the feelings she wanted her images to evoke. Even though this was her first-ever professional photo shoot, we started hitting gold almost immediately and we both were in our groove. It was magic. When Bria left the studio, this photographer’s light and joie de vivre had returned. I was so excited by what we had created and Bria’s need and enthusiasm for new promotional imagery. A shoot like this can make my week. Here are a few of my favourite images from the shoot!

SNEAK PEEK-Well before the backpacks were put in lockers and the students sat down, I was asked to photograph the interior of one of the Yukon’s newest schools which opened this fall. Around every corner there seemed to be yet another beautiful angle to capture! The amount of light flooding into halls and classrooms, the beautiful use of wood on both ceilings and walls, the modern touches like garage door openings and comfy common areas.I am happy to say, schools have come a long way at creating vivid learning spaces where independent and cooperative learning can flourish. Thank you @ketza_construction for trusting me with this project to showcase the fantastic job your team did.
